A cool little place off west end road. After spending several weeks in Jamaica, it was refreshing to stop in, meet Chris 🇨🇦, and have a straightforward conversation in English, lol. Seems like people who stay here keep coming back, maybe for the French fries 🍟

It’s in a good spot, just a stone’s throw from the world-famous Rick's Cafe. The rooms are pretty basic, with outdated furniture. This property has lots of potential and just needs some TLC.

The complimentary breakfast was excellent, and the restaurant food was delicious. The pool was clean, and the cleaning staff checked each day whether we wanted the room cleaned or fresh bedding and towels. Rick's Cafe is nearby. There’s also a trampoline, swings, and a small slide for kids, though that area wasn’t quite operational. Upstairs from the main dining area, the pool table space looked more like storage, with dust and old broken chairs. The property sits down a side street with potholes, off the main road, and it isn’t beachfront. Trees surround the buildings, with paths between them, but some paths were blocked by heavy mud and silt. Our room was clean but underwhelming, and the online pictures seemed to show a better version from years ago. The old, musty wardrobe was in disrepair, so we couldn’t unpack our clothes. The kitchenette had only an old mini-fridge, with no plates, cups, or utensils. There was no microwave or kettle in the room to reheat food we’d bought elsewhere. We were traveling with infants, so getting hot water for their tea meant leaving the room and going downstairs to the open dining area to use the restaurant kettle. The baths leaked, and we had ants, roaches, and lizards in the rooms, likely because of all the surrounding trees and plants. The internet was terrible, and the weak Wi-Fi meant we couldn’t watch TV or use internet-based apps.

I spent Christmas here and have no regrets. The staff took great care of us and were pleasant, and the atmosphere was spectacular. The pictures I’d seen beforehand didn’t do the place justice, especially the pool, which looked small in the photos but really isn’t. Prices were reasonable and great. I’d gladly bring my family here, and I’m already looking forward to coming back.
