Mirage Resort - Clothing Optional - Adults Only

For a good price, this quaint hotel on the west end cliffs is well worth trying. It has an excellent breakfast and the best coffee in Negril.

We had a great vacation at Mirage. Manager Reece runs a very tight ship and makes sure you have what you need, and she's a great breakfast chef. Savanah, Bobby, and security Newman were all fantastic. It's a smaller hotel with a beautiful pool where you can watch the sunset, plus a cool little cliff jump and great snorkeling off the cliffs. There are good restaurants nearby, Sips and Bites to the left and Kool Vybes to the right. Just past Ricks is a diamond in the rough, LTU. The cheese pizza and every meal we had there were awesome. Mirage has a sister hotel on the beach, Charela Inn, and we spent a day there. It has a beautiful beach with lots of shade and a garden restaurant serving great food.

At around $100usd/night, getting a hotel right on the water with a made-to-order breakfast by the ocean is a pretty amazing deal. Breakfast is served 7am-8am and 9am-10am, and the place is quiet, private, peaceful, and secure. You can also jump from the cliffs straight into the sea, and clothing is optional if you’re into that. Our host was charming, helpful, and had a bit of comic sass that we loved. I can’t believe this isn’t one of the go-to spots in Negril. People expecting an all-inclusive with room service at that price might see it differently, though.

Reese, the manager, and Savannah, her capable assistant, put a lot of effort into making guests feel welcome, and the rooms are nice. The continental breakfast with eggs is good, but there’s no restaurant or bar, and the hot water in the rooms can be unreliable. Some of the privacy has been lost because a recent storm damaged the foliage around this clothing-optional property. There are also practical drawbacks: the only shaded spot by the pool has a hole in its decking, and there’s no shade near the sea. Swimming in the ocean means jumping from the rock platform or using a ladder, with no lifeguard on site. The pool itself is small. To reach either the pool or sea, you have to go around by the parking lot on the street side. Stairs down from the back of the building would make more sense. Le Mirage could use some TLC. The storm damage explains some of the bare landscaping, but the place still comes across as a bit neglected compared with Charela Inn on Negril’s beach, which has the same owner and seems to get more attention.
