Tropical Lagoon Resort

DON'T BOOK. THEY GAVE OUR ROOMS AWAY, THEN TRIED TO GET US TO ACCEPT SHADY LAST-MINUTE ARRANGEMENTS. WHEN WE ASKED FOR A REFUND, THEY TOLD LIES. A HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE!

This was one of my best experiences ever. The service was beyond excellent from the moment we drove up to the gate right through to leaving. Since the resort is so intimate, my partner and I pretty much had our own private chef. Chef Nicole was AWESOME!! They even decorated our room for our anniversary. We'll definitely come back.

The steep climb down to the Lagoon would be tough for anyone with bad knees or trouble walking, so keep that in mind. Still, the gardens are full of lush foliage and beautiful flowers, and the setting more than makes up for the older rooms that could use some upgrades. It’s right on the Lagoon, with three pools and a beach bar and restaurant, plus tables and chairs on the sand. This was my second stay, and the staff were amazing. They helped with everything, from arranging a chef to carry our luggage up the steep stairs and organize a rafting trip. Aside from the climb, it’s perfect. I’ll definitely be back next year. The best place to stay in Portland.

We had several problems in the room: there was no television, the refrigerator was unplugged, the WiFi didn’t work, and the hot water was turned off. The resort also showed little urgency in addressing any of it. They collected payment before we had a chance to decide whether we were satisfied, though we should have been more careful about trusting them. I’m extremely disappointed and wouldn’t recommend it. I’d suggest choosing another resort in Port Antonio. If I could give zero stars, I would.
