Villa La Cage

Eight of us stayed overnight in three rooms, and it was the worst night of my life. The rooms were deplorable: the toilets wouldn’t flush, the showers were disgusting, the sheets were torn, and the beds were hard as rocks. I couldn’t wait for morning.

The only bright spot was the woman who attended the rooms. She was pleasant and helped us find a room we liked. The property itself is run down. The rooms that cost $7000 are okay, but the rest are a joke, with TVs that would have been familiar to Moses and rickety standing fans. The pool is awful. If you absolutely have to stay here, make sure you don’t need one of the cheaper rooms or you’ll be in for an unpleasant surprise.

By the second day there was no water at all, and we couldn’t even flush the toilets. The showers were cold, the pool had been out of order for a long time, and the restaurant seemed to have been closed for years. There were no services or restaurants nearby, and the walk back to the hotel felt isolated. The beach was three miles away.

The staff were really great, and I enjoyed my stay. The rooms aren’t amazing, but if the place were refurbished, it could make a great Hilton Garden Inn.
