Sandals Ochi Beach Resort

We’d been at Sandals Ochi for four days celebrating our 20th anniversary without quite getting the resort experience we expected. Dinner at Valentino’s changed that. Ackeem looked after us so well and made the night feel special and memorable. The service was what we’ve come to expect at other resorts, and Sandals Ochi is lucky to have him. Thanks, Ackeem, and bravo!

The food and lovely setting made a great impression, but Trishana’s service is what made this one of my best vacation dinners. She was warm and professional from the start, paid attention to the details, and made sure we had what we needed. We felt genuinely welcome. I’d happily return, and would recommend the restaurant if you’re nearby.

Our 12 days here, celebrating our 40th birthdays, were amazing, and we’ll definitely return to Sandals Jamaica. Khaeson and Natalee were our butlers throughout the stay. They were always on time, attentive, and happy to help, which made the holiday better than we could have hoped for. At the main pool bar on the hill side, Alicia kept an eye out for us and made the best cocktails. We also had fantastic food at Valentino’s, where Ackeem gave us great service.

We had a fun couples vacation at Sandals Ochi, even though rain kept us from doing the water sports we’d planned. The grounds looked beautiful, with lots of flowers and plants, and the staff worked hard to clean up after the storms. Our room was nice and clean, and housekeeping did a good job each day. We enjoyed the food at Kelly’s, Valentino’s, and Le Gourmand. The circus, drumming, and Lady Cher singing at the Rabbit Hole were highlights. We listened to her three times. Some parts of the stay were less comfortable. Most staff were kind, but a few came across as dismissive. We sometimes felt that being a young couple meant we weren’t taken seriously, and repeated jokes about us looking like teenagers got uncomfortable. We’re hard of hearing, so it was difficult when staff spoke softly, and a few seemed annoyed when we asked them to repeat things. One waiter at Valentino’s snapped at us and rolled their eyes several times. We chose not to drink alcohol and sometimes felt judged for it, including noticing laughter when we declined. More mocktails, or a more understanding approach to guests who don’t drink, would be welcome. The resort is also a long way from the airport, about a 90-minute drive, and its size means shuttles are often needed to get around. I didn’t love that, and it may be difficult for guests with physical disabilities.
