The regular briefings about the island and travel arrangements helped reassure us while Hurricane Melissa was passing through. Hyatt Zilara also made sure we had hot food three times a day, with snacks available all day, and kept activities going throughout our stay. The free massages were a lovely gesture in the middle of the storm. The staff and administration paid close attention to what guests needed and responded quickly. Their compensation and complimentary airport transfers helped us feel that our safety and comfort mattered. We got home safely, and I’ll definitely come back. I’m very grateful for how well Hyatt Zilara looked after us.

The immaculate grounds, good restaurant variety, and mix of quiet time and activities made for a great visit. We’d been worried after reading recent reviews, especially after two disappointing stays at other resorts, but Hyatt Zilara brought back the feelings that made us fall for Jamaica 29 years ago. We were celebrating our 29th wedding anniversary, and the staff’s warmth stood out from the moment we arrived. Shavene, Stacy, Teneika, Horatio, and Lucrellas in Watersports(sp?) were especially memorable, though the whole team was lovely. The small thoughtful touches throughout our stay really mattered. I’d have liked more Caribbean music on the adults-only side instead of the radio songs we hear at home, and the volume could come down a little. We left refreshed and grateful. Thank you, Hyatt Zilara, for making our anniversary so memorable.

We had dinner at one of the restaurants, and the lamb chops and lobster were amazing. Delano, the driver the hotel assigned us, was also wonderful and took us safely all over Montego bay. I’d rate the stay 8/10 and plan to bring my family back for Christmas. Our swim up room had great views, and we enjoyed using the pool each day. The hookah was my favorite part, thanks to Monique, the assistant manager at the hookah stand, who kept it full. Malcome by the pool was generous and kind, always making sure we had drinks. As someone who often stays at the Hyatt, I thought this was one of the better resorts, though it doesn’t beat the Hyatt Ziva in Cabo. I didn’t like having no wristband upgrade option for better liquor. We went off the resort for decent tequila because the Jose Cuervo gave us a headache. The room could have been cleaner, and room service was a little slow, so there’s room to improve, but it was still a decent stay.

I spent most of my time enjoying the beach, pool, swim-up bar, entertainment, and beautiful outdoor areas. The staff showed great Jamaican hospitality, and the spa was outstanding. My massage overlooking the beach was amazing, the facilities were very clean, and the spa staff were incredibly friendly. The room itself was acceptable, but very humid, and there was a strange smell from the AC vents. The hall carpets looked filthy and overdue for replacement. At the restaurants we visited, something was almost always unavailable or an ingredient was missing, despite the food options being decent. I also saw a guest’s room service tray left outside their door overnight and still there in the morning. It seemed like a red flag to me, potentially pointing to a roach problem. The hallways also smelled odd and had dim lighting. I’d stay again because the outdoor spaces outweighed the drawbacks for me, and I mostly use a hotel room just to sleep. But if you expect to spend a lot of time in your room or are staying longer, I wouldn’t recommend it. I disagree with the 5-star rating.

The jerk restaurant and nightly events are worth checking out. The buffet team were incredible, with friendly, pleasant servers and hostesses. We also met the chef, who helped arrange special meals for someone in our group with numerous allergies. The resort is beautiful and conveniently close to the airport, right on a main thorofare. The rooms were spacious, though a little out dated, and most staff were courteous and friendly. We had a different experience at the French restaurant on September 12, 2025. The hostesses had unpleasant dispositions, rude facial expressions, and rude comments. Despite that, the stay was truly great overall.
