Amman Airport Hotel

The food was the biggest letdown. At dinner, the noodles smelled pungent, and the other dishes seemed bland or not fresh. The hotel itself is about 10 minutes from the airport, and the staff handling the passport arrangements were good. We were there because of a connection problem: the airport kept our passport and gave us a blue slip to fill out at the transit desk, which the hotel then held, so we had no document while at the hotel. On the way back, the hotel returned the blue slip and the airport gave back the passport. The room had a nice bed, TV, mini fridge, proper bathroom, and Wi-Fi, though the building looks old and outdated.

Calling room service was frustrating because reception almost never picked up. The food was unpredictable too, and sometimes arrived only mildly warm when it was supposed to be hot. The room had a long list of problems: the lamps above the beds looked close to falling, paint around the windows was peeling, the bidet leaked, the closet didn't work properly, and the shower was faulty.

The gym hours were a real problem. It closes at 5 PM, and since I checked in at 3 PM, there was barely a chance to use it. The hotel advertises a gym without making that limit clear, which felt misleading. Wi-Fi was awful, disconnecting constantly and barely working. When we raised it, staff basically told us to use the lobby internet, which isn't useful when you've paid for a room. The staff also seemed indifferent and unfriendly, with little effort to help. The room didn't feel properly clean, and the strong smell of cheap cleaning products was disturbing, as if it were covering up dirt. The price felt unjustified. In Petra we stayed at a brand-new hotel that was much better in every way for half the cost. This place is seriously overrated and overpriced for what it offers, poorly managed, and below the standards it claims to meet. I wouldn't recommend it, especially at this price.

This was the only hotel Royal Jordanian airlines offered us after our flights were delayed, and they should treat their customers better. The rooms felt tired and old, with worn carpets. Food kept running out, and whatever remained in the buffet trays was cold. There were no sweets afterward, and no tea or coffee either. Staff were rude when I complained. After I complained three times, the head of the kitchen tried to make it up to me by bringing a bowl of fruit salad from a tin, a few small cakes, and some tea bags to my room.
