Ayass Hotel

I've been a regular at Ayass Hotel and have had a great experience. I came from Pakistan, and the staff are cooperative, honest, and professional. When you visit regularly, they offer free upgrades. The food and the rooms are both very good. I recommend it!

The rooms are lovely, and there's a great gym. Staff were always helpful and easy to ask for things like extra water or towels. Mohammad the porter was especially great on my last day: my taxi was late, so he spoke to the driver in Arabic to get an update and ask him to hurry up. I wish the hotel were nearer downtown, but taxis aren't too expensive, and there are lots of food places and shops nearby.

The location made things easy, with plenty of cafés, restaurants, and main city spots close by. My room at Hotel Ayas was clean, comfortable, and well looked after, and the staff were friendly and ready to help. It also has a nice, calm atmosphere. Breakfast was good and had enough variety. A few small things could be improved, but I had a very good stay in Amman and would come back. Highly recommended for a visit to the city.

I spent two weeks here, first in room 417, a single king room, then in room 104, a single king executive suite. The first week in 417 was wonderful: the Wi-Fi was really fast, the room was clean, and the cleaner and the person who checked me in were both great. The furniture could use an update, though. The staff were generally friendly and helpful, especially the front desk and valet/doormen. I'd give them 10/10 for helpfulness, apart from one receptionist who made me feel bad by repeatedly saying I was the only one reporting a Wi-Fi problem. I only tried the free breakfast buffet once during my stay. The options were decent, but I had a strange moment at the omelette station. I gave the male cook my order and ingredients, sat down for about five minutes, then came back to find he seemed to have forgotten and was just starting it, even though no one else was waiting for an omelette. The big problem was Wi-Fi in room 417 during my second week. It kept cutting out or getting painfully slow on all three of my devices, an Android phone, an iPhone, and a tablet. I told reception on the first night and was told an engineer would check. The same thing happened the next two days. With four days left, I explained it again at reception. The receptionist was polite, but kept insisting I was the first and only person to complain and suggesting my VPN was the cause. I tried without a VPN and had the same trouble. I'd been there 10 days by then, and the Wi-Fi in room 417 had been amazing for the first seven. The receptionist said someone would look into it, but the next day it was still happening. I asked for a refund for my remaining booked days because I wanted to try another hotel and felt brushed off. The receptionist asked for one more chance to fix it and called an engineer to my room. We could see that, despite the signal showing as good, even a simple GOOGLE SEARCH took about a minute to load. The engineer did his best and asked me to reset the Wi-Fi on my devices, but that didn't help. I wasn't comfortable being a complainer, so I didn't go ahead with the refund and started spending more time outside when I needed to work. During the second week, housekeeping also gave me damp comforters and sheets on two separate days, though that hadn't happened the first week. I assume they were freshly washed, but they were so damp I couldn't lie in the made bed. I left them as they were, and after being out for hours I came back to a slight mildew or damp smell in the room. Please don't give guests bedding like that. If I'd only stayed for the first week, I'd have rated Ayass Hotel five stars. The second week was so disappointing that I had to lower my overall rating to three.
