Aqaba Roza

I was grateful to get an early check-in, and the staff were great. They even checked that I was okay when I stayed in my room a lot, which made me feel safe. The room itself exceeded my expectations. It was comfortable enough that I just wanted to rest after my previous trip instead of going out to explore. There was both AC and a ceiling fan, so I could choose between cooling down or just having a breeze. The bathroom was nice too, with a hot shower. Shops and restaurants are close by. The hotel sits on a narrow street, which was fine for me since I didn't have a car. The only thing that bothered me was noise from other rooms outside, especially doors banging. At times I wondered if people were fighting or something.

The public beach is just a four minute walk away, and we could always find a spot for street parking at any time of day. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room standard felt like what you’d expect at an expensive hotel, but for much less. Nice extras included hair dryers and snorkeling equipment for guests.

The room was comfortable, and the staff at Roza hotel were very helpful. They even let me keep my bike in the room during my five day stay. Jordanian hospitality was definitely on show. There were some practical annoyances, though. The fridge switched off when I took my key-card out for the day, so anything left in it got warm. The TV was there, but I had to call staff because the power sockets didn't match the devices' cables. Once it was working, every channel was in Arabic, with nothing in English like CNN or BBC. The toilet leaked a little onto the floor, and the seat wasn't fitted properly. Other guests sometimes shouted in the corridor very late or early, so a quiet-hours reminder at check-in might help. I still recommend the place, as long as you don't arrive with high expectations. It's a two-star hotel.

We were treated really well, and being able to choose our room meant we picked one overlooking the sea and Eilat. They also gave us tips and diving equipment, and the parrot was a really cool extra. Nothing to complain about.
