Dana Guesthouse

The buffet dinner was a real highlight, with lots of delicious Jordanian family-style dishes that changed a little each night, plus homemade dessert. Breakfast was basic by comparison, especially for the price, and didn't have much fruit or yoghurt, though it was fine. We also bought a 5JOD lunchbox for our hike, but it was very basic: a couple of pieces of bread, a cheese triangle, a can of tuna and a whole tomato. I wouldn't recommend it. Our deluxe room was huge and comfortable, and the team were friendly and provided great service. It could use some maintenance, though. The bathroom extractor fan wouldn't turn off and was noisy, and the curtain rail was in poor shape. The location overlooking Wadi Dana is incredible. The views from the balconies and shared areas are stunning, especially at sunset, and sitting outside with local tea in the quiet was lovely. Information about self-guided hikes was a bit patchy, and since that's why most guests come, it could be better.

The rooms were spacious, clean and had plenty of character, with parking right on site. We had a memorable stay thanks to the owner's personal care. I had recently sprained my ankle, so he kindly moved us to a more comfortable room to make sure I was okay. He also stayed up until 1am to check us in and greeted us with real warmth. Such a kind and generous person. We'd absolutely recommend this gem to anyone visiting Dana.

Even the toilet comes with a five-star view. The scenery is beautiful, the staff are friendly, and the food and hospitality are excellent. What a hidden gem.

Everything was shut when we visited the Guest House in Dana Reserve, even though it was meant to be open. There were no facilities or services available, so the whole trip felt like a waste of our time and effort. Management needs to rethink how it runs the place urgently, before its reputation is ruined.
