Petra Marriott Hotel

The whole team made us feel welcome, with kindness and real professionalism throughout. It’s hard to single out one person because every staff member was fantastic, and housekeeping was especially attentive. Our room was spotless and everything worked properly. We also enjoyed the restaurants’ range of dishes, particularly the delicious, well-prepared Jordanian food. We’re looking forward to the swimming pool renovation being finished, which we’re sure will make a stay even better. We’d definitely come back to Petra Marriott Hotel.

Mousa welcomed us with dates and coffee, then showed us to our room. The rooms were nice and the service was great. Breakfast had plenty of options, was quite good, and starting at 6am was handy. The hotel is making some improvements right now. If you arrive by car, you can pull up out front and they’ll valet it on the street. Petra’s entrance is under a 10 minute drive away.

Dinner was pretty good, with local dishes like Mansaff, really tender lamb, kebab, and other Jordanian delights. I was welcomed with hot tea, dates, and Turkish candy, a lovely expression of Jordanian hospitality. The hotel sits up on a hill, so there’s a view over the town and valley. Only downside was the pool construction, so we missed out on taking the iconic picture. One of the best hotels in town.

The rooms are a little dated, but clean, comfortable, and good value for the price. We also liked the onsite restaurant, a convenient and delicious choice after a long day hiking. If you can, ask for a mountain-facing room, the views are breathtaking. The staff were welcoming from the moment we arrived, genuinely friendly and professional, and made us feel at home. It’s a handy base for exploring the Rose City, just a 5-minute drive to Petra’s main gate. There’s a free shuttle in the morning and afternoon, which saves the hassle of parking or finding a taxi. We visited in January while the hotel was expanding, but it didn’t affect our stay at all.
