The rooms aren’t luxurious compared with other camps in Wadi Rum. I understand the camp is marketed as a luxury stay, but it’s also outside the protected area. It was disappointing that the camp opened while construction was still underway. Once you arrive, there are no activities, café, or restaurant open. Other than the tour you book, there’s very little to do, so you spend most of your stay at the camp. At a minimum, basic facilities such as a café or restaurant should be fully operating before guests are welcomed.

The camp was quiet and more remote than others, which I liked, and the food and atmosphere were good. Staff were nice, so I had a good stay overall. The carpets were dry and could use replacing, and the bathroom could use a few touches.

The main drawback was the internet: there’s no Wi-Fi in the rooms and mobile data doesn’t work, so you have to go to the dining area. Picking a room near there might help. Still, the forced digital break was a nice upside. The camp is also far from the main camp, so you need a jeep to reach Camp 2, where the food and other things are available; the staff promptly arranged what we needed. We spent two lovely days here. We arrived early and were allowed to choose our own room, and the staff quickly arranged a two-hour sunset jeep tour after check-in. The guide took us to several scenic spots, and the tour was amazing. We had our most delicious meal here, and the room was clean and spacious. You could step right outside the tent to see the stars.

The camp is in a beautiful part of Wadi Rum, with great Martian tents, good food, and attentive service. The jeep tour could be better; I’ve had better ones elsewhere.

The desert setting and Martian-style tents were memorable, and the jeep tours were enjoyable and well organized. Staff on site were generally friendly and tried to help. Dinner at Camp 1 on our first night was excellent. But across two nights at Hasan Zawadeih Luxury Camp 2, the service, cleanliness, and attention to detail fell short of the premium price and the camp’s reputation. We were moved from Camp 2 to Camp 1 without being told beforehand. After we insisted on our original booking, we were sent back to Camp 2, only to find our room wasn’t ready. We waited nearly two hours to check in. The reservations and operations teams didn’t seem coordinated: our pre-arranged requests hadn’t been passed along, and we had to keep showing old messages to get what had already been agreed. Camp 2 staff didn’t even know we’d booked two nights. Dinner wasn’t served at Camp 2, so we had to go to Camp 1 and then be driven back. The room Wi-Fi device didn’t work. A replacement was promised but never arrived; after another reminder, they gave us a modem from another room to install ourselves, and that failed too. We had no internet throughout the stay. When we were out on jeep tours, the power in our room was switched off, leaving refrigerator items warm and some spoiled. We reported all these problems to the reservations team on the first day, but got no response or acknowledgment. That was perhaps the most disheartening part. The location and desert stay were memorable, but the lack of responsiveness and coordination made this far from what I’d expect at this price and rating. Better communication and internal systems could improve the experience considerably.
