Fuganoyado-Chouseikan

We came by motorcycle, and the staff and management were great at figuring out what we needed. They were very accommodating and spoke excellent English, which made everything easy. The bath was the standout for me: large, clean, and well cared for, with several mineral water options. I was surprised to find that you could also drink the same mineral water from a tap in the lobby. The manager offered us coffee and snacks for free, too. It’s a high-quality Japanese hotel at a reasonable price, especially handy for motorcycle touring. We’re already making plans to return.

We had a nice stay at one of the larger inns in the Murasugi onsen area. The room had an adjoining sleeping room, and the bath was spacious and pleasant. I asked for no meat, and they accommodated that. The food was great. The big, well-kept garden is lovely to look at from the large lobby. I wish we’d been there in spring, when I imagine there would be more activity. In January 2025, we also tried the private bath. It’s rustic and very nice.

There’s a large stone shaped like a turtle in the onsen pool. The bath was very good, and the staff were helpful.

Dinner was a treat, with more side dishes arriving one after another. Everything tasted good and looked appealing. The bath water is continuously flowing, with some circulation for disinfection. Even though a lot of water is circulated, it still feels pleasant and has the character of hot spring water. It’s not too hot, so I could stay in for a while. The building feels clean and comfortable. The lobby’s atrium and glass walls make it feel open, and there’s herbal tea in the lobby that you can help yourself to, along with a drinking fountain.
