I stayed in Agano City on the first day of my Fukushima trip, and watched the Agano River Akihanabi Festival from the hotel. Seeing it made me feel that the hot summer was finally ending. I was using this stay as a pre-trip before Fukushima, but I’d stay here again if I had the chance. The hotel is near Yasuda Interchange on the Ban'etsu Expressway and has a main building as well as the Japanese-style annex, Green Kaikan. My fifth-floor single room in the main building had plenty of space to relax. Green Kaikan has separate baths for men and women, but I’d already gone to Kahoji public bath before checking in, so I skipped them. For dinner I had a hamburger steak set meal at the attached Izakaya restaurant, Hasegawa. Breakfast was a set meal in the main building dining room, not a buffet.

The staff were nice, and there was plenty of hot water for a comfortable shower. The refrigerator was a compressor type and cooled really well. The building is definitely old, but it’s maintained well and didn’t feel dirty. I’d certainly stay here again.

I was here for an event at the karting track next to Mikawa Ski Resort. The front desk and breakfast staff were polite, and the service was satisfactory. The facilities are old, but well maintained and clean, so I had no issues. I’d stay here again.

There’s internet access and even a pub on site. It seems popular with business travelers, many of whom stay several nights. I spoke with one guest who said they were staying for about three months. I wonder whether the rates are a little cheaper for longer stays.

The room was spacious, and I was glad the twin cost the same as a single. The bathroom and toilet were only moderate in size, though. There was no auto-lock, as expected. The air conditioner was set to 18°C, and I wondered why until I realized the room only cooled when set that low. The refrigerator and TV were fine, I guess. The front desk had a very old-fashioned feel, and the elevator was so small it could only fit two people with luggage. It’s a rare place to stay in the Yasuda area. Still, I had no trouble sleeping there.
