We were there for the Aizu/samurai festival, and had a great stay. The hotel is getting old, but our traditional room was spacious and had lovely valley views. The onsens were roomy and really relaxing, and the buffet food and drink selection was good value with plenty of options. Staff were fantastic, and the other guests made us feel welcome even though we were the only foreigners. I’d love to come again, and I’m very grateful to the staff for making it such a good experience.

The hotel is beautiful, and the onsen is very good. Staff were helpful and spoke fluent English. The parking area may be a bit far from the entrance, but they offer a very helpful shuttle.

We didn’t have to hurry in the morning since checkout is at 11, which was really nice. The location is convenient, though the hotel is old. Our room was clean, and the private outdoor bath was wonderful and just the right temperature. The big bath was fabulous too. The outdoor bath is a little small, but I managed to go when it wasn’t crowded. Dinner and breakfast were buffet style and decent, if not amazing. With two kids who have very different tastes, the range worked well for us.

The setting is lovely and quiet, and we enjoyed our first stay here with friends. You really need a car to get here, though the hotel does run a shuttle from the train station. Our room was large, with a comfortable bed, but there was no shower, so you have to bathe in the hotel’s onsen. The onsen was very nice and fairly large, with indoor and outdoor pools. Both meals are buffets, so expect plenty of people. It was a nice place to stay and relax in the hot springs.

The breakfast and dinner buffets had lots of variety and good quality, and the guestroom was large, bright, and clean. There’s also a hotel souvenir shop with a good range of things to buy. This Oedo onse monogatari branch is a solid four-star hotel; I’d rate it even higher, around 8/10. If you arrive by car, keep in mind the parking lot is about a three-minute walk farther down the road.
