One of my favorite onsen ryokan in Tohoku. The baths are a big reason I rate it so highly. I could sit for ages in the one beside the river, where the temperature felt just right and the little tubs fit one person nicely. There are two footbaths if you’d rather not bathe. Near the main onsen you’ll find soft serve, beer and a massage machine, while the footbath area has a sake-tasting machine. Our western room was beautifully set up, with a window facing the river and its autumn leaves. It had a warm wooden Japanese feel but was still comfortable. Dinner was good, though breakfast was my favorite. It has lots of Japanese dishes, so I can see it not being to everyone’s taste if you’re not Japanese. The mochi was especially good, made to order with a perfect texture. The service was excellent. They explained the ryokan and its layout, and helped arrange a taxi for my departure.

We had a wonderful one-night stay as a family, and the price for the experience felt quite reasonable. Our room had its own massage chair and a deep tub for soaking. We booked the private Onsen for 4 pm, then had dinner at 6 pm. The next morning we went to the public Onsen baths before breakfast. The meals were amazing and delicious. We’ll definitely come back on our next trip to Japan.

The food was amazing, and there was such a huge amount of it that it was hard to finish everything. Our room was stunning, with a beautiful river view, and it had a shower and bathroom. There are lots of private baths that can be booked for an extra charge. The staff spoke a little English and other languages, and were so welcoming and helpful. We had an amazing stay.

I really enjoyed my stay. The room was spacious, if a bit dated, and there was a welcome drink after check-in. From the onsen, the view includes the river and a small waterfall. I’d give the onsen 10 out of 10. Dinner was average, while breakfast was good.

I visited at the end of December, when there was heavy snow. It made the place feel beautiful and peaceful, especially from the open-air onsen where you can watch the snow falling outside. It’s not far from Aizu wakamatsu town, and if you’re driving, you can plan visits to nearby sights. There’s parking available.
