The staff are very kind and helpful, and it’s easy to get a towel or any amenity you need. There’s plenty of food on site, and the traditional Japanese rooms are quite unique. The photos look much better than the place does in person, though. My room had wall stains and lots of dead bugs between the window sills. The hallways were disappointing too, with well-fed spiders in the corners and huge webs along the lights. It’s a decent stay if you don’t have many options.

The staff welcomed me warmly from the moment I arrived, and the service at dinner was good. Ngoc, the host, was amazing. Staying at Kameoi Hotel was a very unique experience. My room seemed a bit old, especially the bathroom, and the heater was too noisy for me to sleep. Japan’s hospitality has never let me down. Well done.

I really enjoyed the onsen, especially the amazing outdoor bath. The hotel also offers free dan dan men from 9pm. Service was great, but both the hotel and room felt dated. I booked a plan with meals, dinner and lunch, but the kaiseki dinner and breakfast weren’t good in taste. I’d expected a nice kaiseki meal, but it was very mid. There were lots of Chinese tourist groups, which made the place a bit livelier. There isn’t much to do around Yuze onsen beyond the onsen itself.

The train station is only a two-minute walk away, and they still provide a transfer service. The food was tasty, the rooms were clean and nice, and the staff were lovely. Service was really great, and I enjoyed both dinner and breakfast. The outdoor onsen felt magical in the snow. I really enjoyed my stay, straight five stars.
