The Villa Kazbo

The owners run Kazubou Burgers right next door, and the burgers were delicious. A convenience store is within easy walking distance, and the airport is close by too, so the location worked really well. Our room was stylish and had everything we needed. The owners are a really nice couple. Even with the rainy-season weather, we went surfing together and had a great trip.

We spent four days and three nights in Amami during the rainy season and still had a really relaxing stay. After time out on the water, we could soak in the tub and look out at the ocean from our beachfront room. We took a surfing lesson on the first day, then tried SUP surfing for the first time the next day. With the coach's help, we caught lots of waves and had a great time. The spacious kitchen made it easy to cook breakfast and dinner in our room. For lunch, we devoured Kazbo Burgers every day. Big Two and the nearby convenience store were handy too. It felt like a vacation at home.

The owner was friendly and helpful, and shared plenty of information about Amami. The accommodation is attached to a burger shop and surf school, and the rooms are made from huge containers, which is a fun design. The low ceiling made me wonder at first if it'd feel cramped, but I found the room comfortable once I arrived. I'd recommend the villa with the ocean view. Next time, I'd like to try SUP and some other activities.

The larger of the two rooms felt as comfortable and relaxing as home or a villa. The pool was a proper one, deep enough that an adult could only just touch the bottom, which made for a great vacation. There's a beautiful shallow beach right in front of the hotel, with restaurants and convenience stores nearby too.
