A warm bath really is soothing. I used the facilities during a three-night trip, and I’m grateful for it. There’s also a photo panel of Sumo wrestler Endo in the relaxation area for commemorative pictures.

I stayed by myself for three nights without meals since I didn’t expect to be at the inn in the mornings or evenings. I did want to eat oysters, though. Staying three nights or more with travel support made it a good deal. They accepted credit cards and various cashless payments on site. The building is large and plain, and seems to host local meetings and events often. My spacious triple room had a toilet, refrigerator, free air conditioning, electric kettle, and air purifier. There was no bath in the room, but the large public bath on the first floor was open around the clock. That was a big help when I got back cold late at night. Restaurants in Anamizu are just under 2 km away, so walking there at night isn’t a good idea. From the campground, which is currently closed, you can walk to the beach and the scenic Shiosai no Michi promenade, where there’s a mullet-hunting tower. By car, it’s a reasonable base, about 30-45 minutes from Tsukumo Bay, Wajima, and Notojima.
Bathing was offered to people who had difficulty bathing, including disaster victims. A notice asked residents of temporary housing to hold off because the service was overcrowded. As of January 2025.
The elderly staff were so thoughtful toward my baby, who was only two weeks old. They were all lovely, and the visit became a fond memory. We reserved the full oyster course for 3,180 yen instead of its usual 4,180 yen. The “Snow Jumbo Oyster Festival” was canceled this year, so 11 restaurants in Anamizu held an “Oyster Festival” instead. The course is served in two log-cabin oyster huts, and they take just six groups per day, so booking ahead is best. There were 15 grilled oysters per person, sea cucumber vinegar, fried oysters, oyster rice, and clear soup. The oysters were perfectly salted, and I’d never tried sea cucumber vinegar before. Its crunchy texture was delicious. The fried oysters and rice were filling, and the well-seasoned oyster rice was especially good. Oyster lovers should visit!
For 500 yen, our one-night RV park stay was very reasonable, though there was no electricity. We were told we could park anywhere in front of the building since we weren’t using power. There was plenty of room, and with the toilets inside and lights on all night, we felt safe sleeping in the car.
