Yamashiroya Resort

I’ve stayed at Nagayamon no Yume regularly, usually on the second floor. The first time I checked in, the reception building was dark and empty. I called, and someone came over. A sign asking guests to call when nobody is at the desk would have helped, since I didn’t realize that at first. The room has a clean toilet, towels and bath towels, and useful amenities like a toothbrush, razor, body towel, and comb. There’s an outlet by the bed, the futon is fluffy, and the mattress is comfortable. The public bath is available without limits and, with so few guests, it can feel almost private. You can hear the water flowing outside clearly, and the footbath is right in front when you step out through the gate’s inner window. There are lots of gaps, so insects get in throughout the property, including the room and hallway to the toilet. The website does mention this, but I still found it unpleasant to nearly step on some large bugs, as well as stink bugs. There’s no TV, cups, or microwave, though you can borrow an electric kettle. You have to go outdoors to reach the bath, which is awkward in rain. Sound carries, including voices from guests at the public bath, and the parking lot by reception is far away. I was able to enjoy the hot springs as much as I wanted and sleep comfortably. Thank you.
