Hotel Sunshine

Our room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We all enjoyed staying here, and I’d definitely return if I visit Kawayama again. Just be aware there’s no lift.

The hot spring was wonderful, with a 41℃ hot bath, a 28℃ cold bath, foot bubble bath, outdoor bath, and a wooden tub. It’s in another building, but hotel guests can go as often as they like. Tattoos aren’t allowed, and the hours are 11am to 11pm, with last entry at 10:30pm. The hotel itself has very clean, modern furniture and decor. The bathroom is tiny, as usual, but you don’t need it if you use the hot spring. There’s a TV, free wifi, water boiler, and fridge. The front desk staff were very nice and helpful. There’s also a restaurant and convenience store beside the hotel, though I didn’t think much of the food.

The room was spacious and reasonably clean, though the hotel wifi was weak and slow. The hotel, convenience store and restaurant, and onsen are in three separate buildings. Only the store and restaurant building connects to the onsen, so reaching either one from the hotel is a real hassle in cold or rainy weather. A sheltered walkway linking the hotel to the middle building would make the stay much better.

From the outside it looks really old, but inside it’s very clean.
