The walk from Fujinami Station is just over 10 minutes if you’re not carrying anything. But the shortest route follows the old Arita Railway line, now a walking path, and its rough, bumpy pavement made my suitcase wheels veer around. Pulling it took me 20 minutes. The building has two floors and no elevator, and all rooms are non-smoking.
I stayed here while visiting a nearby dining bar. The room had a hair dryer, toothbrush, razor, and soap, plus shampoo and body wash in bottles rather than the sachets some reviews mentioned. There was a little dirt in the room, but the bed was clean and there were blankets, so I was comfortable.
At 6,500 yen a night, about what major hotels charge, I found it hard to give this place a high rating. The service has serious problems for a business hotel. My room was the usual business hotel setup, with the toilet in the unit bath. Wi-Fi was listed, but on September 23, 2022, the signal showed zero and didn’t seem to work. The bath had a toothbrush and T-shaped razor, while the body soap and shampoo came in small disposable packets. Once I used the soap to wash, there wasn’t any left for shaving while getting ready.
The low room rate still felt like too much for what I got. There was nobody at the front desk, the room tables were sticky, and the bath towels were thin and worn. Wi-Fi was advertised, but I couldn’t use it.
What a scary experience!!! The room key had a flat plastic tab that you were supposed to insert to turn on the lights. That brought all of them on. Pressing the individual switches only turned them off briefly, then they came back on if I pressed all the way. They’d stay off only if I stopped halfway. So it was either every light on or just the headlights. Cha-cha!
