Art Hotel Asahikawa

There were quite long waits for the elevators at times, since there are only two and many guests were on package tours. Still, the hotel’s overall quality more than made up for that. The room was clean and comfortable, the public bath was excellent, and breakfast on the 15th floor was outstanding.

I liked the spacious front desk area, which could handle a crowd and apparently also works as a banquet hall for large groups. The basement has a spa and other facilities, including a sauna. The top-floor restaurant was delicious and had a good range of dishes, and it was great to book through the app. The rooms have been renovated and were quite clean. Parking is a few minutes’ walk away rather than on site. The staff explained it clearly and kindly, so their service seemed adequate to me. I’m not sure another coin parking lot would be cheaper if you don’t leave and re-enter. There’s a Seikoma and a convenience store across the road, while shopping malls and a train station are a short drive away. I’ll have to meditate on the elevator. That’s my review, sorry it ran so long!

The room had the feel of something built during the bubble economy and never upgraded. Two lifts for 15 floors is atrocious, I’d say. On the other hand, if you’re nostalgic for the 80s and 90s, this is the perfect hotel. Absolutely worth the price.

Be aware, this hotel runs what I consider a fraudulent, scammer parking business. I was charged 1,000 yen for 5 minutes!!! I personally wouldn’t stay at a hotel operating a business like that. It should be illegal, and even if it isn’t, I think it’s deeply dishonorable!!!
