Asahikawa Capital Hotel

The price was reasonable, and I didn't run into any problems during my January 2026 stay. Sanroku is a bit of a distance away, but the large free parking lot was easy to use. Having a regular key instead of a card felt slightly dated.

We were happy with our overnight stay during the Obon holidays, despite some doubts raised by earlier reviews. We had a car, so being a little way from Asahikawa Station didn't matter, and the free parking was a real help. The futon was already set up neatly in the 6-tatami Japanese-style room. The unit bath and toilet were right beside the entrance, which made the room feel properly Japanese-style. We only needed a place to sleep, so that layout was fine. The air conditioning couldn't be adjusted very precisely, but it was there, unlike at some older Hokkaido hotels. The refrigerator and TV both worked, and we were comfortable. We also didn't notice road noise with the window closed. Hotels were pricey all around during Obon, so I was a little disappointed, though this one was reasonably priced. When I realized I'd forgotten my smartphone charger, reception kindly lent me one. Thanks for that. I'll stay here again on my next visit to Asahikawa.

It was a bit outside the city center, though still walkable. The building and rooms were dated but clean, and there was a noticeable smell. With free parking, it seemed like good value if you just need a shower and a place to sleep.

For about 6000 yen on a September weekday, breakfast was included. The individual air conditioner wouldn't blow warm air, so I felt cold. At that low price, though, I didn't consider it a problem.
