The beds were hard as stone, and the pillows weren't great either. The rooms themselves were fine, and everything else felt perfectly reasonable. It's a little out of the way from the station, though there are plenty of buses right outside. My first room had a great view but was noisy, with traffic and street sounds. I asked to move and got a much quieter room without any trouble.

I booked through Booking for about $150 for five nights, and that price was the only reason I chose this place. It's a small, basic midrange hotel, nothing special or impressive. The location is good, it's clean, and the bus from the station stops right there. I was told my room was large, so I can't imagine the smaller ones. Even on my own, I found it tiny: a small bed, a very small pillow, a one-person sofa and little table, and nowhere to put even my small carry-on. The bathroom is a separate problem. You apparently have to keep the door closed so you don't set off the fire alarm, and the fan is too weak to clear the humidity. The washing machines cost extra, clean poorly, and dry even worse. My clothes still smelled of detergent. There is free coffee, tea, and water in the lobby. Compared with China, this hotel is at Chinese-toilet level for price, size, and quality. I don't understand how two people fit into these rooms, and reviewers who think highly of it don't seem to have stayed in many other hotels.

The staff were attentive and very kind, and metro stations are conveniently connected to the hotel. If the breakfast doesn't suit you, there's a Lawson within walking distance. The Kyoto Pokemon Center is also fairly close, around five to seven minutes by car.

My room was surprisingly spacious and very clean, and I was really happy with the service. I'd stay here again if I return to Kyoto.

Such a cozy room, lovely staff, and loads of manga to read. I even finished Demon Slayer during my stay! They also offer matcha whisk tea service and have a nice rooftop balcony.
