The hotel’s decor is adorable, with cute things wherever you look. Our room was clean and spacious, and seven of us were able to gather comfortably in the seating area. The food was good, the staff were wonderfully friendly, and the bath felt great after a cold day. I’d read the reviews, but thought this was a fabulous hotel in a fabulous location. Check the photos of our room for an idea of its size. I’d definitely stay here again when I’m in the area.

We’ve just finished our second weeklong stay at Omo7 Asahikawa, returning two years in a row. The staff, amenities, and access to the mountains and food are exceptional, and we’ll definitely be back. A personal thank you to Han, Aziz, and Eki for their kindness and professionalism this year. We’ve also stayed in touch with Tomaru, who now runs a plant business with his brother in Tokyo. They’re truly wonderful people.

A friendly team, tidy rooms, and great service made for a really nice stay. We also liked the general vibe. The lobby guide and map showing nearby places to visit, including food spots, were especially useful. Staff helped explain where to go depending on what we wanted to do. We recommend it!

The staff worked well together and made sure guests were having a good stay. They helped with our luggage when we pulled up, showed us where to park, and the experienced tall man at check-in spoke excellent English. Everyone was cheerful, helpful, courteous, and smiling. We stayed in a double room on May 30, 2026, our first time at a Hoshino brand hotel, and loved it. The room seemed refurbished and was spotless. The toilet looked dated but was clean. Parking across the street was a reasonable 1,000 yen for our stay, though we had to pay each time we took the car out. Shops and places to eat were within walking distance. There were lots of picturesque spots around the hotel, from the lobby and cafe to the lounge and sauna entrance. The pretty lounge had plenty of games, a thoughtful touch. At breakfast the buffet area felt a little small, but offered a nicely presented range of choices, including signature sashimi rice. The staff there were attentive and refilled dishes quickly. At 1 a.m. I spilled the soup from my snack cup noodles on the bedsheets. Luckily the mattress and blanket weren’t affected. I asked the front desk for help, and the woman there quickly replaced the bedding without charging an extra cleaning fee. Thank you! The sauna plateau was a little disappointing. We’d expected more, but it was quite small, dated, and crowded. Our room lighting was also a bit dim, and the AC could have been cooler. We still thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return soon.

The underground onsen felt old, poorly maintained, and unclean. Several facilities seem to have been closed to cut costs, including the parking tower, which leaves guests having to park far away. Our room was in poor condition, and the air conditioning didn’t work. It got unbearably hot. When we asked for a fan, the staff gave us conflicting instructions. Much of the hotel also felt strangely empty, with areas closed off and facilities abandoned. We stayed in April but checked out after one night instead of the planned two. It feels to me like the former Asahikawa Grand Hotel got a cosmetic rebrand rather than a proper renovation, leaving a stripped-down version of what used to be a full-service hotel.
