The View Setouchi

The breakfast was tasty and nicely balanced, and there were plenty of drinks to choose from, including juices, water, coffee, tea, and cocktail syrups. The free drinks in the room fridge were a nice touch too. Our plan included two bottles of water, though the room contents may vary. We didn't try room service, but apparently it's available until 9 PM. We stayed with our dog in a renovated twin room on the second floor. It was clean, roomy, and comfortable, with plenty of outlets by the bed. The dog supplies included a crate, toilet sheets, and wet wipes, which felt thoughtful. The living area, sink, and bath were all clean. One little chair had what looked like a coffee stain, so I used it to hold my open suitcase instead of sitting on it. I was told an accident on the carpet would mean replacing it rather than cleaning it, so I laid out lots of pet sheets, lol. The staff were friendly and helpful. Bath salts were offered by reception, and although the dog run is a bit far away and requires borrowing a key, they accommodated my request to use it in the morning by leaving the key at reception when I checked in. We arrived after 6 PM in winter, and the narrow, winding mountain road felt a little unsettling in the dark. But being up on the mountain gave us amazing views. The stay with our dog was comfortable and reasonably priced. The place had a nostalgic feel that made me want to support it, even though this was my first visit.

The meals were a real highlight. We had a filling breakfast, and dinner was a delicious French course with lots of local vegetables. Our dog stayed in the room while we ate, which made it a pleasant surprise to enjoy such a relaxing meal while traveling with him. The bread was so good that we went back for more, lol. From our room, we could take in the views from the living room or even while soaking in the bath. The Seto Inland Sea islands and Seto Ohashi Bridge looked clear during the day, while at night the Mizushima coastal industrial zone lights and chimney fires made for a completely different scene. The room looked renovated and was tidy and clean. There were three of us, and they set up a bed for the extra person, so we all slept comfortably. It was such good value I almost wanted to keep it to myself. They apparently offer free rooftop stargazing on clear nights, but it was cloudy during our stay. I'd like to try that next time. I want to come back!

The food was a standout, especially the Bisei beef, and it was a rare treat to have a full French course meal in a space all to myself. The service was attentive, too. My room was spacious and had its own garden, and there was room for my medium-sized dog. The bathroom was large with a lovely view. There was a microwave on the second floor, so I could heat my dog's food without worrying. The fridge had mineral water, bottled oolong tea, Coca-Cola, local bottled beer, and canned lemon chuhai. The coffee machine also made drip coffee, tea, and other drinks, so I had plenty of choices. It rained the night I stayed, but I'd like to return.

We chose this place because pets were allowed, and unlike many pet-friendly rooms that don't offer much of a view, ours had a great one. The attached bath also looked out over the Seto Inland Sea. The price wasn't too high either, so I'd definitely recommend it!
