Yoshi-san welcomed me warmly and gave me a hand-drawn map full of useful local details, including bus schedules to Kusasenrigahama. You can rent bikes and BBQ equipment, and get onsen vouchers too. As an unassuming traveler like me, I found it a wonderful place.

The service was lovely, especially the tips about nearby restaurants and onsens. We picked up good quality Japanese beef and pork from a supermarket, then Yoshisan got the BBQ and camp fire ready for us. The morning coffee was nice too.

Yoshi was so friendly and talkative, and we felt at home as soon as we came into the garden with its bonfire. This guest house has a special feel and lots of thoughtful little touches. Yoshi even prepares a lottery game for new guests, and we won a bag of sweets!

The facilities and rooms were comfortable and lovely, with a nice Japanese countryside feel. Yoshi, the owner, made sure I had a great stay from the moment I arrived. He shared plenty of local recommendations and invited me to have snacks and sweets at his local barbecue. Such a great find in Aso. If you're visiting, stay here! Thank you very much 🙏🏼

We're travelers from Hong Kong, and I couldn't leave a rating on booking.com because of a system error. But this is one of the best guesthouses I've experienced, a 100-star stay. The location is quiet, surrounded by amazing scenery, and close to the bus station, so getting to Aso station or back to Kumamoto is easy. It's also next to an onsen for relaxing after a hike, and close to places to get food. The host showed us how to find an unforgettable view of the stars. For the price, staying in such a beautiful traditional local house felt like an incredible experience. The host was very, very, very creative and lovely, and it impressed us that he had made everything himself. You can really feel his passion for sharing his hometown with visitors. He was flexible, comfortable to be around, and genuinely hospitable. He seems to have thought of everything, with all the things you need in the guesthouse. The house was clean and had traditional decorations, and the storage looked cute and creative. The bonfire was fantastic. Unlike other hostels in Japan, here you can shower and dry your hair whenever you like because the bathroom is separate from the bedroom. We regret not booking more nights. We loved the place. For a casual traveler, it's a perfect choice in Aso.
