Condominium Hotel Grandview Atami

The room was clean, had everything we needed, and even had a nice TV. But the building itself felt old and kind of run-down. The rooftop onsen was extremely hot, and we felt a bit exposed because there wasn't an opaque glass screen to block possible onlookers from nearby buildings. There were walls and a door that locked, though, which was a pleasant surprise. What brought my rating down was the irritating customer service from the flamboyant male secretary who checked my friends and me in at night. We're all foreigners, but transfer students who can speak and understand Japanese well enough. As far as I remember, we only spoke to him in Japanese. He treated us like babies and interrupted me when I tried to talk, then explained the hotel's facilities and conditions in bad Japanese mixed with bad English. I hope he realizes that only made him harder to understand. Later I came downstairs to ask which floor the exit was on. He asked where we were going, which felt weird. I said Family Mart (FamilyMart), and he corrected my Japanese by repeating "I'll go to Family Mart" (I'm going to FamilyMart) three times until I gave in and repeated it. He then started explaining how to get there, though I already knew. I only wanted to know what floor the exit was on. I went on my way, and my friend who came with me also thought he was acting weird and unfriendly. In the four months I've lived in Japan, this was my first experience with rude customer service. I want him to give foreigners who try speaking Japanese a chance to communicate. Not every foreigner knows English.
