Nagaragawa Spa Hotel Park

The birthday cake for my daughter was arranged in advance with such thoughtful help from the staff. They were also kind about explaining the hot spring facilities and traditions when they realized we were foreigners, and the service was excellent throughout. Our family had a lovely stay in a spacious room overlooking the Nagara River. We enjoyed the traditional cormorant fishing show(Ukai), a fascinating, culturally rich night in Gifu. The one thing that felt a little tight was breakfast time. An extension to 10 or 11 am would have suited our family better.

The open-air baths were especially relaxing at sunrise and sunset, and felt wonderfully freeing. A very hospitable, nice hotel.

Breakfast was a letdown for a room at this price. It felt more like a cheap business hotel, with factory bread, bubblepack jam, and a cafeteria setup where the staff seemed disinterested. The room, on the other hand, was huge and stunning, with fresh, modern, high quality furnishings. One of the best we have stayed in Japan. The big baths were spacious and had good views. Check-in was quick and professional, and staff walked us to the room, but didn't explain the facilities or services.

The riverfront location is a real plus, with cormorant fishing visible from the room. This was my second stay at this onsen hotel this year, and I really appreciated Mr Sakuragi san's warm, enthusiastic hospitality. His English is very good, and when he learned it was my second visit, he put a lot of effort into arranging a room with the best view for us. Really grateful for that thoughtful arrangement. It's a super comfortable, quiet hotel, and I'd definitely recommend it. I'll be back!
