Atami Taikansou

I was disappointed by how the hotel handled this. I reported the loss to a nearby police station and also to the police in Tokyo, but neither could help, saying there wasn't enough time left in our travels. I'd had cash in my wallet during my stay, and after the staff came in that morning to put away the futon, I checked out and went straight to the market. I only realized the 20,000 yen was missing when I tried to pay. We called the hotel, but they said they couldn't investigate with their staff because I had no evidence. I lost about $200 USD while staying here.

Dinner was kaiseki, and the food was delicious. My wife is gluten intolerant, and they adjusted both dinner and breakfast for her. There are public and private open-air onsens, spacious rooms, and a peaceful, beautiful garden. The staff are very helpful, and many speak some English or even Spanish. They pay attention to all the small details so you can relax and enjoy yourself. Special thanks to Saori for being so available, so service-minded, and always smiling. She made our stay really special.

We felt very relaxed thanks to the staff's hospitality and good service. The rooms were warm and clean, dinner was delicious, and the garden was wide and beautiful.

I came by on a day trip hoping to use the onsen, but they told me it was only available to people with reservations and that they were fully booked that day. They were very nice about it, so 4 stars.
