Resorpia Atami

The view was good and breakfast was decent, but parking was inconvenient. There was no hotel parking lot, so we had to leave the car uphill, pay for overnight parking ourselves, and walk some distance back with our luggage. In winter, carrying bags to the car was a hassle. The onsen was too crowded for me. I counted around 30 people at one time and met about 50 in total, unlike other places I've visited in Japan. I only went once because I wasn't comfortable there. It's at the far end of the top floor, so in the cold winter weather I had to walk all that way, and the night wind was freezing. We also hadn't expected the extra Atami accommodation tax of ¥400 and bathing tax of ¥300 for two people per day. That came to ¥1,400 for two days.

The surroundings were pleasant, and both the bath and shuttle were very good. The service, though, was a huge disappointment for a Japanese hotel. I called the front desk three times at 9 pm asking for firm pillows, then waited 15 minutes without hearing back. I finally went down carrying one firm pillow and one soft one. The staff's English was very poor. First they said there were no firm pillows left, but after another 10-minute wait they brought out two. What I couldn't believe was that they kept me waiting in the lobby in my bathrobe, then expected me to carry all four pillows back upstairs myself. A manager passed by and only pressed the elevator button.

Spent our anniversary at Hotel Resorpia, and this was the sunrise from my room ❤️ The hotel is near Sun Beach, a convenience store, and a train station, with a bus stop just 2 minutes away. There's a free shuttle, an onsen with a view, free coupons, and great staff. A lovely stay ❤️

The room has a Japanese tatami sitting area and loads of space. Best of all, there's a floor-to-ceiling window that seems to bring in the ocean, sunshine, breezes, moon, and stars. Just amazing!
