The onsen was great, with an indoor bath and two outdoor ones. The rooms were new and nice, but we could hear everything in the corridor, which made sleeping difficult. Breakfast was awful. It felt like dinner leftovers recycled into a morning meal. If you like having dinner for breakfast, fine, but if you want breakfast food, this isn't for you. I had to go to Dennys by the station to eat. Between the noisy rooms and the hassle of getting breakfast a long way off in town, this wasn't relaxing enough for an onsen hotel, so I'm giving it two stars.

The outdoor and indoor traditional baths were the best parts for me. The view was lovely too, and both breakfast and dinner were delicious. I'd like to eat those meals again.

The outdoor hot spring setup was my favorite, and there are indoor and outdoor options. The milk vending machines were a lifesaver after a soak, with yummy cold drinks. Downstairs, the souvenir shop had lots of inexpensive choices and snacks too. We visited during Japan's best season, and the morning view was breathtaking. I liked the downtown feel of the area, and the room was cool and clean. They offered yokata, and we enjoyed the hot springs.

The staff were kind, and the amenities were good. They seemed unfamiliar with serving vegetarian guests, but the team handled the recovery well. I hadn't realized there wouldn't be a bathroom in the room, though the onsens were still well worth it.

Just a heads-up: tattoos aren't allowed in the onsen. I couldn't find that information anywhere before going in.
