We went as four families, about 20 people in all, and there was plenty of room in the hot springs and pool. The location is great, and it was lovely to watch the Atami fireworks 🎆. Just take care on the very narrow private road leading to the facility when driving.

The meals were better than I expected. The place itself is undeniably in a wonderful location, though the aging is more noticeable than the website suggests. I hope the management does well from here, and I'm curious to see how it develops. I spotted Hoshino Resorts nearby on the map, so I hope they can set themselves apart with their service. We had trouble with the baths' temperature settings. They seemed unstable, and the men's bath was lukewarm, so we used the women's bath more often. Maybe it's popular with families, but as adults traveling without children, seeing children's equipment around felt a bit odd. As other reviewers have said, there's no doubt I couldn't bring family members who dislike insects. It also made me realize how impressive it is when a mountain inn manages to keep bugs from getting inside. Good luck!

I came for lunch, and Chef O kindly showed me around the facilities. It was a gorgeous private space. The 5,000 yen meal was terrific: the "Kinmedai Carpaccio" starter was delicious, and I liked the cube-shaped bread so much I had two servings. Mistral used to be a women-only spa and beauty salon called "Mori no Shirobiing" on the Yoritomo Line. A new place opened after about two and a half years. The restaurant takes day visitors for weekday lunch and has overnight stays on weekends, and it seems you can rent the whole building. A lot of Atami restaurants only open on weekends or serve lunch only. This one offers both lunch and dinner, with sincere service. They don't seem to have done much marketing yet, since there was only one other group besides us. I hope it gets enough customers to make a reasonable profit and keep weekday lunches going. There are just five tables, though, so it can seat up to ten people and might get crowded. When you arrive, use the intercom from the parking area facing the Yoritomo Line. The road up is steep and very Atami-like, so take care if you're not a confident driver.

I live nearby and have been bothered by noise from this hotel's events several times, but the event on August 15, 2023 was especially bad. The noise went on without a break from daytime until around 9 PM, so I contacted them. It seems many other people have complained about similar noise too. If they can't confirm measures to prevent it happening again, we'll have to consider taking further action.
