I visited just for the onsen. It's a hidden gem, with good value for the range of baths, the sauna, cold plunge, and excellent views. I do wish they treated the spring water a little less. People come for the natural water.

I went to the baths around 5pm on Dec 30, and it was much too crowded. I had to wait for a shower and stand in the sauna. The facilities are nice enough, but I'd try to go at a quieter time or on a non-peak day.

I came back in 2023 for the great view and hot spring. Then I returned in 2024, and the Shinshu beef dishes were great.

After a good day working in the apple orchard for Akio-San, how many people have stayed here? (wwoofers)
