Beppu Fuga

The starter was nice, and the sashimi was thick and good quality, but it was frozen and icy cold. The pork steak also had a porky smell. Those were the food issues for me.

The room was huge, and I stayed three nights at this very nice hotel. Breakfast was especially good value, with lots of choices and a different main dish every day. The first night I had to call someone to let me in because the hotel door is closed at midnight. They were renovating the onsen on the fourth floor, so I couldn't try it.

The room was big and had a lovely ocean view, and the hotel itself is beautiful. There's also a nice welcome area with lots of different drinks. But the restaurant was closed the day we arrived. We were exhausted and had to order pizza, and we were disappointed not to have food available for guests. We'd hoped to relax at the hotel instead of going out to eat. They should offer a cafe option when the restaurant is closed.

From this mountainside hotel, the view over Beppu is fantastic, and it's easy to get to Yufin and nearby areas. There's a direct bus to Beppu Station, too. Great value for the money, and I'd come back. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful, and the rooms were quiet and very clean. I also enjoyed the private onsen facilities.
