Beppu Onsen Irifuneso

We had a great stay and would happily come back. The private bath was nice for the family, the food was good, and everyone on staff was friendly and knew the area well. It was also convenient for visiting nearby day onsen, including Suji-yu, Mushi-yu and Hyoutan.

The food was astonishing, both in how good it was and how much they served. They even asked me not to tell people because it isn’t for sale, and you could probably skip lunch. I stayed with my 1.5 year old, and they had all the things a child needs, including kids’ body soap in the bathroom, so I didn’t need to bring anything. The view was lovely, and getting to the hell tour was easy. It was a really great inn 😊

We brought our two kids this time and felt comfortable staying here as a family. The meals were generous, and the flounder sashimi was especially delicious. I’d stayed here once before and was very happy then too. After 13 years, I came back, and this visit left me just as satisfied. I’d stay here again on my next trip to Beppu Onsen.

Dinner came to our room, hot and freshly cooked, and everything tasted so good. I wish they served it in the dining area too. My 4-year-old and I had a lovely solo trip together, with toys and DVDs in the room, plus diapers, a kids’ toilet, meal chairs and even kids’ jinbei (summer kimono). The private family bath was a highlight, with toys for the bath, and it was so relaxing for just the two of us. The landlady and staff were warm and welcoming. It felt like a place I’d return to, saying, “I’m back!” ✨
