Morinoyu Resort

The mountain setting gave us fresh air and lovely views, and the onsen was a highlight, with indoor and outdoor areas to use. There’s also a picturesque public open-air bath nearby, and you can borrow swimwear from the front desk. Our rooms were clean and fresh, and the amenities had been thoughtfully provided. The whole resort felt brand new. I was there with a tour group and wasn’t sure what to expect, but the stay exceeded it. It was a very relaxing break.

The people were nice, and breakfast was a buffet with both Japanese and Western options. It’s a hot spring hotel with indoor and outdoor baths.

The best part was how welcoming and helpful the staff were. When the typhoon meant we had to stay an extra night, they helped us look up lots of information. Special thanks to Kattori and Miki for helping us through the stay. Morinoyu is medium-sized, clean and well organized. The garden bath has just been renovated, so it looks new and clean, and soaking outside was refreshing. You do need swimwear there, so bring some or rent it from the hotel. The regular indoor and outdoor baths were nice and clean too. Our room was basic but spacious and clean, with a lovely view of the harbour and mountain. We spent four nights here, one longer than planned because of the typhoon, and were happy with our stay.

The hot spring left us feeling relaxed and comfortable, and we had a really nice night here. The staff were very friendly and provided great service. There were lots of dishes, and the food was delicious. I’d gladly come back.
