Mango Resort Okinawa Chatan

My family planned six nights, but we moved to another hotel after only an hour. The room was filthy, the washing machines were out of order, and the futon and pillow were very thin. The couch had a big hole, and there was little space to move or lay out the futon. We paid over $800 and were denied a refund despite staying less than an hour. It was the second worst hotel I’ve stayed in. I’ve never reviewed anything before, but wanted to warn people. I think the photos show two types of rooms, which may explain why half the reviews are positive and the rest negative. Please don’t stay here. Spend a little more and get a Hilton.

There were bugs on the bed. For a four-day booking for a couple, I got just one set of towels, with no extras. There was no room cleaning service or front desk. I requested a toothbrush and other supplies, but didn’t receive any. The hotel is poorly managed. I wouldn’t book it.

The location is great, the property manager was polite, the AC worked well, and the shower was hot. I stayed four weeks, though, and wouldn’t come back. I think Okinawa has much nicer and cleaner places. If you only need somewhere simple and don’t mind cleaning, you might be fine here. Cleanliness was the big issue. There were stains and hair on the mattress protectors, stains on the couch, and hair on the shower mat. The property manager, an Indian man, came within 30 minutes. I had to ask for both beds to be completely changed because lint rolling the covers wasn’t enough. Since the booking was non-refundable, I tried to make the best of it and used only the packaged slippers. Luckily, people I knew on the island came to clean the whole place and brought sheets, pillows, a comforter, cooking items, plates, cups, and silverware. There was a parking fee, and no new trash bags were provided once the room’s bag filled up. Each of my two twin beds had one flat pillow. There were no hangers or iron in the closet, and the dryer was out of order, so I washed my clothes at a friend’s place.

The space was great for four people, and we had a good time during our one-day stay. The couch had what looked like mold, partly covered by a towel, and the dryer was broken. I wouldn’t recommend it if you want somewhere clean and reliable.
