Ryokan Hiyoshi

The owner was very friendly and had already put together recommendations for food and things to see. The rooms are comfortable, and I loved the Dyson hair dryer. It’s a short walk from the station and only five minutes from a family mart. My one complaint: I had to wait until 11 PM for the bathroom because other guests were spending over an hour in there.

My wife and I loved the comfortable, sophisticated rooms and all the art and design. The breakfasts were tremendous. Eat dinner early so you have room!

The owner was so kind, shared great recommendations, and even made a dinner reservation for us. The private onsen was a lovely way to unwind after a busy day exploring. I loved all the art and little details around the place. You can tell the owner and staff take pride in choosing pieces and decor that make it cozy and relaxing. The Dyson hair dryers and powder room felt like something straight off a spaceship. Chichibu is already a romantic village, and this stay made it even more so for my husband and me on our honeymoon. It was my favorite stay in Japan by far. The ryokan is close to Hitsujiyama park, several tasty eateries, a convenience store, and the train station. You MUST visit Hitsujiyama park if you stay here, especially during Sakura season. I recommend this Ryokan to anyone visiting the Chichibu area, and we’ll absolutely stay again.

The futon was my favorite, and after a night on it my muscle aches were pretty much gone. The room and bath were lovely, the toilets were a good size, and everything was spotless. Food was amazing, especially the delicious breakfast and homemade tofu that was like pudding. It was so relaxing and perfect for solo travellers. Very affordable for what you get.
