Hotel Eldia Modern Kobe

We booked the water slide room, and I hurt myself on the very first ride, even though I wasn't going fast. The slide feels like a death trap, and I don't recommend it. It doesn't seem up to standard, and a bad landing could likely kill someone if they aren't careful. The bouldering wall didn't look any safer. The room is big, but with these problems I can't give it more than 1/5 😨

For 7,000 yen on a Saturday, I was very happy with the stay. I had room 502, the modern room, and the service was good. Breakfast, one drink, and shampoo were included. The bathtub water looked a little green when I filled it, as if bath salts from the previous guest hadn't been wiped away completely. It cleared after I filled the tub twice. What bothered me more was a constant, quiet drainage sound. It didn't keep me from sleeping, but it was annoying.

I was glad to find an inexpensive stay with breakfast included. The amenities were provided, and the Panasonic hairdryer seemed fine for a one-night visit. I came with a friend for a concert, and being close to the station was great. There are no keys. To check in or out, or to leave during your stay, you use the intercom on the first floor.

I treated myself and booked the President's room. Everything was spotless, even the beer server, and the complimentary food and fruit were delicious. I had a great time. The steep water slide launches you into the wall at surprising speed. Get into the right position, like on an airplane escape slide, and brace yourself when you land. The wrong position will definitely get you hurt. Your girlfriend can laugh while you crash, but don't expect her to catch you. She might hit her head on the wall and end up in real trouble. The bouldering wall seemed like it could make problems equivalent to grades 5-6 if you tried hard. Experienced climbers could probably warm up by looping around using just the white or brown holds.
