The onsen area was clean, and the park and river nearby made the daytime feel more enjoyable. Dinner and breakfast were the usual kind you get at an onsen hotel, and honestly I liked them. The room is old and has a slight cigarette smell, both inside and in some other areas.

The hot springs were relaxing, and the dinner portions were incredibly generous for our one-night stay with two meals. We had a regular Japanese-style room with futons and a lovely view of the Chikugo River from the veranda. My wife and daughter were happy with this simple inn, too. It’s an older place and not like a luxury hotel or ryokan, but it was very clean and comfortable. The staff were kind, and we had a pleasant stay. I’d definitely like to book again and come back.

On my solo trip I chose the lowest-priced 8-tatami Japanese-style room. It was comfortable and very clean, with no unpleasant smell, and the futon was already neatly arranged. I also appreciated the heated bidet seat. There was no bath in the room, but having access to the panoramic bath was enough for me. There were lots of dishes at dinner, and everything tasted good. The ceramic-plate grilled dish and the tempura were especially nice. Staff at both the front desk and restaurant were attentive and kind.
