Hotel Platon Annex Green Plaza

The onsen are excellent, which I already knew from visiting Togura Kamiyamada Onsen many times and touring the outdoor baths. At Platon, the large public bath uses a mix of hot spring and recycled water, and I still enjoyed it. I chose this place for a weekday night alone in January, without meals, because it offered free hot spring visits at its sister hotels, apparently with different water sources, plus free Wi-Fi for around 6,900 yen. I wanted a non-smoking room, but they were all full, so I had to take a smoking one. It smelled so bad that I’ll probably avoid booking here again if I can’t get a non-smoking room. The room itself was spacious and more than enough for me, with a bath, toilet, sink, electric kettle, paper cup humidifier, and other things. With no meals included, I bought dinner at Hotto Motto, a 10-minute walk away, and ate in my room. There was only one microwave on the second floor, which was inconvenient. Having to take off shoes at the shoe lockers by the elevator on each floor before walking to the room was a bit of a hassle too. I’ve stayed a few times at the Green Plaza annex across the street, and thought I might as well stay there if it was cheaper.

The price felt high for what I got, so I don’t think the experience justified the cost. The room wasn’t very clean, and the dim lighting made it uncomfortable. Some staff came across as condescending, which was disappointing. I personally wouldn’t stay here again.

For an overnight business stay, it was perfectly fine. The semi-double twin room had plenty of space, though the TV was small and the sound quality poor. It was quiet. The front desk and large public bath are shared with Plato across the street, and the hotel costs less than 10,000 yen including breakfast and bath access. You need to wear indoor shoes inside. Breakfast comes as a boxed bento, with rice and miso soup available for refills. They also had curry seasoned with Nozaki curry, with a nostalgic taste.

The staff at the neighboring Plato were kind and polite, and explained the hot spring hopping clearly. When I went to the baths around midnight, they patiently showed me how to use the electronic lockers, which made for a pleasant stay (*'-'*). I was there on August 18, 2025, right after the Obon holiday, and everything was so quiet it almost felt like I had the place to myself. Green Plaza uses a card key for entry, and it was very quiet inside too, so I could relax. I enjoyed four hot springs in all, including those at the sister hotels. At Kashiwaya, I tried the panoramic open-air bath on the 5th floor and the piping hot spring on the 1st floor, which made for a very fulfilling time♪. The price is reasonable, and I’d definitely like to stay again.
