Hotel Seizan

The food had plenty of variety and made my mother very happy when we visited with her for Mother’s Day. My sister had booked because of the good reviews, and the service lived up to them. The building is old, but some parts have been renovated, including the new dining area. The room seemed carefully cleaned, and the open-air bath was very pleasant. I tried drinking the hot spring water for the first time, since it was drinkable. It was intense!

It’s a fairly small inn where you can have a quiet stay, and it’s one of my family’s favorites. The guest rooms aren’t new, but they’re clean, and the dining area has been beautifully renovated. The hot spring water is wonderful, with a faint sulfur smell that warms you up nicely. On my recent visit, though, the indoor bath felt a little too hot. I’d appreciate it if they checked the temperature more often, so I gave the service four stars.

The meals were colorful and nicely balanced, and both the food and front desk staff were high quality. It’s a comfortable place for the price: the room looks old but was clean, and the facilities have been thoroughly updated. I liked the stylish second lock, too. The outside may look dated, but the renovated front desk and dining area feel sophisticated. The welcoming staff and drink bar offer hospitality that’s hard to find at this price. The hot spring water quality and temperature are well maintained. It’s such good value that I’d return even if the price went up a little.

The staff were kind, courteous, and really listened to my requests and concerns. Even though I booked through Yahoo, they called in advance to warn me about traffic restrictions for a festival. They had posted it on their website, but I guess nobody really checks there (laughs). The room felt a bit worn, but it wasn’t dirty, and I was comfortable. The safe was definitely fireproof, though quite old-fashioned.
