“Good” I stayed one night during the busiest part of summer vacation. The hotel was okay. The room was clean, though everything looked old and worn. I liked the classy vintage feel inside, and the location right across from the lake was excellent.

The balcony looked out over the lake, and the stars at night were breathtaking. We went for a run around the lake in the morning, which felt wonderfully refreshing. The whole area is beautiful and has a little pocket-of-time-slowing-down feeling. We spent one summer night here and had a lovely time. The hotel is charmingly retro, like stepping back into the Showa era. The man at reception was very sweet and gave us a free upgrade to a bigger room with a balcony. It was neat, clean, and more than enough for the price. It was a great getaway, and I'd urge anyone looking for one to consider it.

I came in for coffee and hot chocolate. Both were awful. I've never had coffee that tasted so bad. Won't be back.

We ducked in for coffee because it was getting cold, and the place was empty and freezing. The attendant switched on a small kerosene heater. We ordered two coffee-and-cake sets at 1000 Yen each. The cake looked decent on the menu, but what arrived was about the size of a small cookie. The cappuccino came in a teacup and didn't taste very good either. The bill was 2200Yen for two coffees and two tiny pieces of cake. Watch out, the menu prices don't include VAT. Lesson learned, again!
