The room was spacious and nice, with a tatami living area separate from the sleeping space, almost like a suite. It wasn’t directly on the ocean side, but the sea is just a stone’s throw away, visible from the side, and you can definitely hear the surf. There’s a hot bath as well. Still, at around 15000 a night for two gaijins, it felt a bit expensive to me, especially out of season and given the general condition of the place. Its best days seem to belong to the last millennium. The whole place has an early eighties charm, though the edges are scruffy in places and it does feel like time travel.

The food was a lovely surprise, delicate and a treat for both the eyes and palate. The inn was clean, with care put into the little details, and I’d definitely like to come back. I was able to unwind in the tasteful Japanese-style room, and the open-air bath was especially wonderful. Thank you for the warm hospitality.

Dinner kept arriving after I’d already thought, “Wow, this is luxurious!” I’d eaten too many wet rice crackers during the day and was completely stuffed. If you order dinner, go hungry. Breakfast was nicely balanced, so that meal was the only real trap, in a good way. The walk from Inubo Station takes a few minutes, or under five if you use the shortcut. That torii gate-like path can feel a little spooky (lol), and I walked along with my heart pounding. The exterior and lobby brought to mind the Showa to early Heisei eras, and the guest rooms had the same nostalgic feel, with ocean views. In my 40s, it reminded me of childhood family holidays and school trips. I hope this inn sticks around forever.

The staff made a particularly good impression, with their warm hospitality. I stayed for the fireworks and had a very satisfying visit. The location, service, and facilities all went beyond what I expected, and I’d definitely come back.

We came with friends for today’s fireworks display, which was really nice. The hotel is close to the sea, so you can watch the sun rise, and it has both a hot spring and a pool. It’s definitely good value.
