Toyoko Inn Tokyo Nihon-Bashi

I found Toyoko at the last minute, and now I don’t want to stay anywhere else in Japan. The single room and en-suite were clean and comfortable, with plenty of space for one person. The building was tidy and the staff helpful. The free breakfast buffet was delicious, and the price for what you get was unbelievable. Highly recommend!

The heating didn’t do enough: however high I turned it up, the room stayed cold. Some staff also had a strange way of dealing with customers. When I spoke English, they became very businesslike, and sometimes didn’t listen, just talking at me. When I needed an answer, especially about what seemed to be rules or precautions, they would suddenly speak very quickly in Japanese without looking at me, almost as if delivering a theatrical monologue. If you can put up with the cold and don’t need to interact much with staff, it’s at least a clean business hotel.

I’m a member of this hotel chain and like it, and this hotel is in a great, easy-to-reach location. At Bakurocho, though, the rooms were smaller than at other chain hotels, and the pillow was quite flat.

I’ve stayed at many Toyoko-inn branches and am a member, but this is my first time writing a review. The location is good, near two metro stations, and the room cleaner worked hard. Still, I regretted booking five nights. Under the standard plan, the bed was too small to sleep comfortably, and the pillow was flat and easy to squash. There were only two washing machines and two dryers for all the customers, and there were a lot of guests. Also, the elevator doesn’t require a room key, so anyone can go up and down without access control.
