Business Hotel Castle

Really old.

Having Seicomart right across the street was a lifesaver. I warmed up with a katsudon from Seicomart and some local beer after arriving soaked from the rain, and the staff had kindly lent me a towel. I was riding from Tomakomai toward Hakodate, but the wind and rain on the highway near Muroran made riding dangerous, so I stopped in Date and found this hotel. I had a 15:50 reservation and, perhaps because it was a weekday, they let me check in at 16:00. The building is a little old, but the futons were fluffy, and there was heating, low pillows, a small public bath, and covered parking. Thanks for the help. I'd stay again if I get the chance.

I was very happy with this small hotel. The tatami room felt new and had its own bathroom, and it was really comfortable. The outside looks quite old, especially at night, but the rooms have clearly been renovated. The trouble came when I went to collect my luggage at lunchtime after telling the hotel lady at checkout I'd leave it there. Nobody was anywhere in the hotel, so I had to find it myself in the storage room behind the check-in counter. Then I had to rush to the station to avoid missing my train. 🤣

Could I reserve a room with something other than a credit card? 🥲 The hotel is always shown as fully booked on the booking apps. Is there another way to book besides going there in person? 🥲 I'll update this once I've actually stayed.
