Onishi

We stayed on a weekday with the family. The rooms were clean and the price was fair, even though the inn is a little old. It had that traditional Japanese inn feel, and the fish-heavy meals were delicious.

At night, the fishing lights over the Sea of Japan, right in front of the inn, were lovely to look at. We paid 8,800 yen per adult for one night with two meals, which felt like good value. The fresh meals came in just the right amount, and the children had their own plate. It has the charm of an old-fashioned Japanese inn, and there are plenty of beaches nearby.

The sea view was fantastic, and it stayed very quiet late into the night. We parked in front of the Onsen by the Sea of Japan, went for a soak that evening, then had dinner around 7:30 PM. Since the guesthouse closes at 10:00 PM, we took a walk outside before heading back.

We found the place on Jalan because all we wanted was crab, and they certainly served plenty. Each of us got a huge crab, packed with meat, and we made our way through lots of crab roe too. There was grilled crab, crab shabu-shabu, and even sashimi. By the end, we couldn't finish the hot pot, vegetables, or udon, sorry about that.
