The onsen and sauna were fantastic, and I really liked the buffet food.

The next morning we had a great breakfast buffet. The onsen has both indoor and outdoor areas, with separate facilities for men and women. There’s karaoke, a small video arcade, and ping pong too. I went to hotel Fuji with a group of 33, including family and work colleagues, and we all had a wonderful time. After the big Enkai dinner, there was free time to wander around, and I caught a lovely jazz show in the front lobby.

I needed to shower in my room because, as a woman on my period, I didn’t want to make other guests uncomfortable by using the public hot spring shower. But there was no spare hair dryer to borrow. The whole hotel had only four, so after showering I had to go to the first floor with wet hair to dry it. The front desk staff also didn’t seem capable of hosting foreign guests. I’ve stayed in hotels and hostels around the world and never encountered anything like this. The service was worse than any hostel I’ve stayed in. Making guests risk catching a cold like that is ridiculous.
